Articling Student (she/her)
Megan Abel is a 2025–2026 articling student at St. Lawrence Barristers PC. Megan recently graduated magna cum laude from the University of Ottawa. Prior to law school, Megan completed a Bachelor of Science (Honours, with Distinction) in Life Sciences at Queen’s University.
Megan first joined St. Lawrence Barrister’s in a Feminist Public Interest Fellowship position in 2023, in which she investigated the theoretical and practical application of anti-SLAPP (strategic lawsuits against public participation) legislation to retaliatory civil actions against sexual misconduct allegations. Megan’s ongoing work at St. Lawrence Barristers PC has fortified her passion for tort litigation, administrative and constitutional law, and appellate advocacy.
During law school, Megan worked as a Research Assistant in global health law, served as an Associate Editor on the Ottawa Law Review, and completed a student internship at the Canadian Environmental Law Association. Megan served as a 2024/2025 Program Coordinator for the University of Ottawa (Common Law) Chapter of Pro Bono Student Canada, overseeing one of Canada’s largest chapters to ensure mutually beneficial partnerships between student volunteers and community partner organizations.
Megan recognizes legal advocacy as a compelling vehicle to enhance equity and access to justice. She aspires to contribute to a civil justice system that is increasingly alive and responsive to the realities of all people it serves.
